Green Gate Family Farm is a USDA Certified Organic and Real Organic Project certified farm located in Wheatland, MO on the edge of the hills that make up the Ozarks. We are about 2 hours from Kansas City where our primary market is.
Green Gate is highly diversified, not only in production, but in market outlets as well. Our sales outlets are about 50% wholesale (KC Food Hub, Whole Foods Market, and restaurants) and 50% retail (online store, CSA and a winter Farmers Market). We grow 100s of varieties of fruits, vegetables, herbs, bedding plants, cut flowers, and raise ducks, chickens, and geese for eggs, and sheep for live animal sales. We have 67 acres, 40 in pasture and 20 in woods, and 7 acres that house the poultry production, three high tunnels, one greenhouse, an orchard and several small fields where we grow year-round (totals about 2 acres in annual crops).
Our farm production is small but mighty. Through our retail sales channel we feed about 50 families year-round mainly through our summer, fall, and winter CSA sessions. Selling wholesale, we do a robust spring plant business with all three Whole Food stores in Kansas City, and serve dozens of schools, mainly with cherry tomatoes and greens, through the KC Food Hub.
Work is available year-round and we are looking for workers that take an interest in how the farm is run. We want to share our farming practices and why we do the things we do. We are currently finishing an on-farm intern house that should be ready by early spring of 2026. We are open to volunteers, but would prefer someone who we can pay that wants to work and, ideally, live on the farm.
